Phycological Culture Collection from Coastal Bioresources（PCCCB） is deposited at the Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences located in Yantai at the Shandong Province coast. The institute, established in 2009, is China’s unique national research institution focuses on coastal zone
PCCCB focuses on the collection of not only algal bioindicators or economic microalgae in coastal zone or saline environment, but also microbial strains for applied phycology.
Collaboration between Prof. Andrzej Witkowski, Szczecin University and the China-Poland Collaborative Center of Coastal Diatoms (Wspólne Chińsko-Polskie Centrum Hodowli Morskich Okrzemek Bentosowych) in 2015. This collection now maintains 147 diatom, 73 coccolithophores, ca. 60 industrial Spirulina, and 12 E. coli strains of genetic engineering of phycobiliproteins, in addition to over 1500 macroalgal specimens.
