Scientific Fellowship Announcement
The Institute of Marine Sciences at the Faculty of Geosciences, University of Szczecin, Poland, is searching for two dynamic and highly motivated students as scientific fellows in the general field of marine geosciences by November 1, 2018. The successful candidates will become members of an international scientific team within the frame of a research project funded by the Polish Centre of Science (NCN):
Evolution of the Hainan Delta (South China Sea’s northwestern shelf) as a response to changes in palaeoenvironment since the Late Pleistocene (ERES)
This team is investigating unique sediment records offshore Hainan Island and interpret the sediment facies genetically as response to sea-level, climate, and environmental changes between Marine Isotope Stages MIS 4 and MIS 2. The project started on February 3, 2017, and is coming now to the final stage in which the research team is integrating research data for publications and for the summarizing report which is due by June 30, 2019. The successful candidates shall help in
data management and storage using the project data base, in data exploration using statistical and geostatistical methods, and in the elaboration of scientific graphics for the report.
The candidates should be students of a PhD- or MSc-program in geology, oceanology or related geosciences. They should have
- interest and basic experiences in marine geosciences,
- experiences in the application of text processing, statistical, mapping, and graphic software.
- special interest in team work and interdisciplinary research,
- good skills in English language.
